EMPLOYEE'S SPEAK
I joined Pharmalab as a young man of twenty-two in 2011, armed only with an engineering degree, some knowledge and little experience. Today I work at Pharmalab as Manager ā R&D, and I can confidently say that I have grown tremendously and groomed professionally.
I was born and brought up in Visnagar, Gujarat, and I did my schooling and Mechanical engineering at Gujarat University. Most of my experience and professional life have been in the pharmaceutical capital equipment manufacturing industry.
The fundamental objective of research and development is to create value for our company and society at large. Our efforts today form a strong foundation that ensures our business continues to flourish tomorrow. The research and development department plays a vital role in the life cycle of a product.
At Pharmalab, we constantly strive to develop technologies that meet customers’ needs and provide solutions to their customized requirements. We believe in customized innovation that offers the solution to our customer’s unmet needs.
Our focus at R&D is to enhance the efficiency & performance of our existing products and develop new products that will be future business. In addition, we strive to add value for our customers by improvising functionality, quality, ergonomics, and safety at an affordable price.
We need openness and diversity in research and innovation to generate new ideas. At Pharmalab, we have a strong R&D team, and each team member has vast experience and knowledge about processes and pharmaceutical requirements.
We have divided our function into two parts:
- Basic Development
- New Product Development
Basic Development
Our main aim in basic development is to focus on efficiency, performance, and operating cost and bring the new features and technologies which can meet the critical requirement of clients or regulatory bodies. In addition, our team continuously keeps an eye on new international standards/committee requirements for the critical process of the pharmaceutical industry. Upon receipt of any new update or need from the client or any global standard/committees, we start a Pre-study and feasibility study, followed by building the prototype and concept for further development. Once our pre-study and prototype are ready, we propose the management for project approval with data and business case.
New Product Development (NPD)
Our aim in New Product Development is based on product portfolio management, to fill the product gaps followed by application and multi-feature introduction to be up to date in the market as a market leader. Based on our product management and market studies, the specifications will be developed, and the scope will be finalized along with a business case. Once the business case is approved, the NPD work starts.
We classify the project into three different categories, i.e., Large, Medium, and Small, based on the estimated man hours and Budget.
Once a project is classified, we define the roles and responsibilities of the team.Ā
The Typical Project activities include:
Pre-Study
- Start Feasibility study
- Start Pre-Study
Main Project
- Start Project
- Design and source parts for prototypes
- Assembly Prototypes
- Release for Functional Test

- Release for Field Test

Project Closure

At R&D, our function is not limited to product development; we also work on industrial and manufacturing processes for ease of manufacturing.
Pharmalab provides the opportunities to learn and participate in every aspect of research and development. With a friendly work culture and focused management, I feel privileged to be a part of this great organization.
